About CBO Accounting and Tax
Our heritage
CBO Accounting and Tax is an accounting firm in Durban, South Africa. The company was created in 1999 in Amazimtoti on the city’s South Coast. It was initially a small, owner-managed business which has gone on to see steady growth in the years since it first opened its doors.
From its inception, the business enjoyed double-digit percentage revenue growth, year on year, until it first changed hands in August 2008 after the founders decided to emigrate. The business was purchased by Bevan Carr, an experienced accountant and tax practitioner who had worked for several years at the Cape Town offices of firms such as Mazars and Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo.
After purchasing the company, Bevan immediately registered it as an accredited training centre with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants.
CBO has maintained its double-digit annual revenue growth pattern and is now one of the larger accounting practices on the Durban’s. The business changed hands again in September 2020, being purchased by Mr. Mthunzi Sibisi and The Employ Africa Group.
Mr. Sibisi served his period as a trainee accountant with CBO and has remained at the practice ever since. Mr. Carr retains his involvement as a director, as well as through his shareholding of The Employ Africa Group.
